Dear Red Nose Veterans,
A Red Nose District newsletter in February? Yep, we're off and
running! And we have news for those of you who like to start planning
early.
Last weekend (Feb 18), we had our RND 2007 kickoff meeting. Some important
issues were settled. We wanted to tell you about them so you can plan
accordingly. So here's the skinny.
BUDGET
We're preparing a RND 2007 budget now. In 2006, we went about 10% over budget.
We need to pay that money back. Fortunately, we invested some of our funds from
2006 in infrastructure (the new kitchen, showers and plumbing) that will yield
benefits for years to come without additional spending.
To top up our accounts, we're planning to put on a spectacular fundraiser
(probably in San Francisco this summer). We'll tell you all about it when it's
been scheduled.
VOLUNTEERS
Some people worked too much last year and need assistance. Some people will
prefer a new job for a change of pace. Some people never found their niche last
year.
We'll be offering you lots of opportunities to get involved in RND 2007. We're
determined to make sure that everyone finds a fun way to be helpful, and that
no one burns out. Please start thinking about what tasks you'd like to
volunteer for to help us create and sustain our community.
In particular, we need volunteers for audio and lighting engineers (4), garbage
sorting and removal (2), and late-departure camp teardown (3). We're prepared
to refund membership fees to people who helps us with these hard-to-fill tasks.
THEME
We don't currently have a plan to fit in with the 2007 Burning Man Theme of
"The Green Man". If you'd like to do a Green Man theme project or
help green up The District, please contact our Green Man coordinator Indigo <indigomoonstar@yahoo.com>
about it.
=====
We're mighty excited to be getting back together at Burning Man 2007. And we're
hoping to see you all there too!
If you have some kickass friends who might want to join RND, please forward
this message to them.
Email me if you want to add or remove an email address from this distribution
list.
